Getting Started
Welcome to ReqVault. This guide walks you through the basics in three minutes.
Adding a Client
Clients are the people you'll be collecting documents from. Each client can have multiple submissions across different tax years or return types.
Creating a Submission
A submission represents one document collection engagement — for example, a Personal Tax Return for tax year 2024/25.
Customising the Document Checklist
The default checklist is a sensible starting point, but every engagement is different. You can customise the checklist when creating a submission, OR edit it later from the submission detail page.
Sending Magic Links to Clients
Each submission generates a unique, time-limited magic link. Clients use this to upload documents — no account or password required.
Reviewing Uploaded Documents
When clients upload documents, you'll see them appear in two places on the submission detail page: the **Document Checklist** (showing per-requirement status) and the **Uploaded Documents** table (listing every file individually).
Marking a Submission as Complete
When you've reviewed and accepted all required documents, mark the submission as complete to close it out.
Document Templates
Templates save you time by providing standard document checklists for common return types.
Understanding Statuses
ReqVault uses three statuses to describe progress at every level:

What Is This Upload Page?
Your accountant has requested documents from you. This page is your secure way to send them.
How to Upload Documents

Marking Documents as Not Applicable
If your accountant has listed a document as optional and it doesn't apply to you (e.g. no P45 because you didn't change jobs), you can mark it as Not Applicable.
Re-uploading Rejected Documents
If your accountant rejects a document, you'll see it with red status in the "Already Uploaded" section, along with a reason.
Finishing Document Upload
When you've finished uploading, click **I'm done uploading**. This:
